SOME OF JIMMY’S PROGRAM TOPICS

•  Youth Programs: Leadership in Training: What’s in Your Backpack? Packing for Success in Life

As individuals, we choose to build our lives on negatives or positives. We no longer have the luxury of waiting until something happens. Yes, we all have a ‘backpack,’ and throughout our lives we fill it with Christian values that will shape our future. We must make choices and understand that whatever choice we do make, we draw from our ‘backpack,’ Christian values that will carry us to our next level of success and Christian walk.

Jimmy learned some tough lessons early in his life. As a Hispanic he was reared in a predominately-segregated community in north Texas. Except for his parents, he always had the feeling that no one cared. The system certainly didn’t challenge Jimmy to be expressive nor think about setting goals. He experienced, instead, bitter rejection and prejudice from a society that labeled him “different.” His school counselor told him that his kind don’t go to college. Eventually he realized that though you cannot forget the past and the pain… you can forgive, learn from it, and move on. In overcoming damaged emotions and rejection through God’s grace he learned how to turn all the negatives into POSITIVE learning experiences. As a believer in Christ he learned you cannot allow challenges to become crutches… but stepping stones to ensure success.  It is only by God’s grace, go I.

Jimmy is an authentic Christian speaker where he has presented in over 1,850 public and Christian schools, colleges, and universities where over 1.5 million individuals have experienced his high energy, motivational, and educational presentations.

•  Customer Service: Straight Talk About Customer Loyalty
Consider the following: Any investment we make in teaching members of the company how to treat customers will out perform all other investments we make for the organization. Companies need to realize that it takes happy and skilled personnel to create and support a quality customer service environment.

Thoughts and questions we must consider in evaluating the service we provide our customers:

The present attitude of all members of the team will determine future of the company.
Is our environment boring or are we having fun serving our customers?
When we say that we are there for the customer, are we?
Never assume that everyone understands what is expected of him or her.

We must answer our team’s desires to perform by providing the tools they need to do the right thing every time. Much can be accomplished by helping each member of the team to become more self-managed, skilled, and accountable. As a result we will ensure commitment, loyalty, and a sense of empowerment throughout the organization.

This program will focus on effective ways to foster positive company cultures that will demand nothing but the best from everyone. Participants will learn how to build customer relationships that will allow the customer to return with a “Smile.”

•  Leadership is Not About Being Macho: Instead of Becoming a Legend, Leave a Legacy
No one in his or her right mind wants to be left out and not be counted. Every individual looks for the assurance of being recognized and to know that they have made some contribution to humanity.

Anyone can lead… then comes the question, “Will anyone follow?” Helping individuals to uncover and discover their leadership skills should become the passion of every parent, peer, and organization. The more an individual understands their role as a leader, the more effective they become to make a difference in their lives, career, and society.

Before one starts, there must be a purpose and a desire to make a significant self-change. Research continues to affirm the need for helping others to develop positive leadership skills. We embrace the fact that in every individual is born a leader. Then comes the question, “Will this individual a be a great leader or an average leader?”

There is a distinct correlation between the metamorphosis of a butterfly and a ‘Great’ Leader. In this program the participants will be taken on a journey and experience the metamorphosis of leadership. Including the step-by-step, stage-by-stage, the failures and the successes of the journey towards becoming great leaders.

Leadership is not about being “MACHO” <> Leadership is about humility, character, values, and the desire to make a difference in society and humanity.

Come and experience a positive, high energy, and productive leadership workshop.

•  Mastering Change: In Life, Career and Workplace
Fact: Most individuals find it difficult to deal with change. Why? I often hear the following responses: “The fear of failure,” “The fear of the unknown,” “People set in their ways,” “People like routine and familiarity,” and the list goes on.

Remember, one of the major reasons that many resist or fear CHANGE in the workplace is that most individuals cannot deal with change in their own lives. This program is designed to give individuals a step-by-step process in understanding and mastering change in their own lives. Once a person masters change in their own lives, they can handle any change in their career and workplace.

In today’s turbulent and fast society we find ourselves wrestling with constant, on going change. As a business, or as an individual, we must learn to deal with and create ways to profit from all our experiences. In all that we face, let us choose to take positive action to deal with the emotions that will surface. As a result, it will enable us to remain teachable which will ensure our SUCCESS.

In this program the participants will learn, and leave with, a plan of action that will include the six steps that will produce positive improvement in Life, Career, and Workplace.

•  Motivation: Find Your Niche or Stay in a Ditch
It can be a conscious or unconscious decision to fall into, or even worst, create a ditch in your life or career. It is sad, but true, that a majority of individuals are trapped in a DITCH. Ditch…? No way, you think, but that ditch, in many cases, is better known as a ‘rut,’ which has been painfully hollowed out slowly over the years by stagnation, confusion, insecurity, depression, and worse, denial. Peering at the world from their mental burrows, these individuals may see no light at the end of the tunnel. Remember, just as a meteorologist can identify the warning signs of a storm, and we to can become informed and aware, therefore, recognizing the warning signs of a DITCH.

Once we recognize that we may be headed into a rut (ditch), instead of dwelling in a pit of our own fear, we can discover the positive values and characteristics of our true NICHE. Yes, we can develop a maintenance program to ensure that we stay out a future ditch in our life, career, or the workplace.

In this presentation, the participants will learn to appreciate self-development by learning how to LAUGH at themselves, fall in LOVE with themselves, and become successful BECAUSE of themselves.

•  Our Gift in Diversity: Maximizing and Embracing Our Commonalities
“If I had known then what I know now,” maybe I would have responded better. We do not want you to have any regrets or guilt. Remaining Teachable will play a major role towards our success. Inclusion (Diversity) must be brought to the attention of every individual within the company to ensure survival, growth, and success. Yes, our demographics are changing at a very rapid pace; are we planning to be ready for our customers now and in the future? Our customers as well as our employees are seeking companies and individuals to better understand them.

Inclusion (Diversity) should be introduced to an organization as a three-phase process:

The AWARENESS phase…
The PROCESS phase…
The IMPLEMENTATION phase…

These phases can be introduced to the organization in a positive and non-threatening format. This will encourage and help all participants to take ownership of the process. It is the goal for all participants to discover what they are doing right and seek better ways of doing them, and working with others. Developing a maintenance type program that will allow the members of the TEAM to maximize all our values, experiences, and commonalities.

In this program the participants will experience a high-energy workshop. Including activities to ensure retention and a desire to make a difference in their lives as well as in the lives of others, company, community, and family.

•  Persuasion: Mastering the Disciplines of Persuasion, Sales and Negotiation
How is it that some individuals make it look so easy in the areas of persuasion and negotiation? Then there are those who seem to have difficulty in these areas. Studying and mastering these disciplines can be very rewarding.

First of all, you may be familiar with the phrase, “Knowledge is Power.” This statement as much value, but let us take the meaning to its next level. Knowledge is power only when your recognize the fact that “Applied knowledge is power.”

Please remember that selling is ‘not’ an art, it is a discipline. Mastering the basics of persuasion and negotiation can be achieved by mastering certain disciplines, skills, and techniques.

Myth: Top Persuaders and Salespeople are born.
Reality: Top Persuaders and Salespeople are disciplined.

In this program participants will learn to focus their present skills and discover ways to improve them. Learning the definition of persuasion and sales to be: “Helping people make decisions that are good for them.” Participants will be given proven “How To” techniques that will become basic “Tools” for their professional trade. Turning Negatives Into Positives…
Jimmy learned some tough lessons early in his life. He grew up as a Hispanic in a predominately-segregated community. With the exception of his parents, he always felt that no one cared. The system certainly didn’t challenge Jimmy to be expressive and think about setting goals. He experienced bitter rejection and prejudice from a society that labeled him “different.” Eventually he realized that though you cannot forget the past and the pain, you can forgive, learn from, stand firm, and move on. Handling, overcoming the damaged emotions and rejecting rejection, Jimmy learned how to turn the negatives he experienced into POSITIVE learning experiences.

There Is Life After High School…
Jimmy’s first motivational talk was a flop. This was when others told him, “You will not make it in sales or ever become successful.” Something turned and tightened within him, and he decided that he would make it; he discovered that he was a self-starter. He remembers that day so well; it was a hot day in July, 1974, alone and full of fear. But, a commitment was made that day, and he moved forward to experience the taste of success. His first motivational talk turned out to be more POSITIVE than negative.

Success Comes Through Discipline…
Jimmy’s friend, George Roach, encouraged him to read books to gain knowledge about sales, persuasion, negotiation, self-empowerment, business trends, etc. At first Jimmy was not receptive; up to that point in his life, reading was not a priority, not even a pastime. What jolted Jimmy into picking up a book was something George said to him, “Jimmy, if you elect not to read, you are as bad off as someone who cannot read at all.” So, at the age of 28, Jimmy read his first book cover to cover, word for word. What an experience! For the first time in his life the words he read came alive. He realized at that very moment that nothing was impossible; he discovered that there is life after high school. He started to attend various seminars and workshops on communication and persuasion skills. Jimmy learned to take the phrase, “Knowledge Is Power,” to the next level, which is, “Applied Knowledge Is Power.” A lesson he learned, and is now passing on to all his audiences is “Success is not an Art… Success is a Discipline.”

A Mission Bigger than Jimmy…
Then came January, 1983, when Jimmy decided to respond to his calling. Becoming a professional speaker became bigger than a choice. It became a desire, a passion, and a commitment to help make a difference in the lives of people. The person that encouraged him and is his biggest supporter is his loving wife, Laural. By establishing and keeping his priorities in order – God, Family, & Career – Jimmy has become inspired to help other find and develop their potential to be successful.

Besides his knowledge in communication skills, self-development, and self-disciplines, Jimmy has the unique ability to counsel and guide youth, as well as adults, in the quest for professional and personal goals. His clients are assured success because Jimmy cares and makes certain that they use their utmost hidden talents.

There Is Life After Each Adversity And Challenge…
Today, if you were to ask Jimmy, “Is there life after high school?” you know he would answer, “Not only is there life after high school, there is life after each adversity and challenge that we may experience. Always remember – “It is always too soon to quit!”

Through dedication, commitment, and the application of self-discipline skills, Jimmy has learned to deal with adversity. By helping others, Jimmy realized he was helping himself. Yes, it becomes a “win/win” situation for everyone involved.

Jimmy will never forget who helped him – His Parents, his wife, Laural, and his friend, George Roach. He knows that one real way to adequately thank them is to continue making a difference in this country and in the lives of others. For every person with whom he comes in contact, he must try to be the best teacher, server, helper, and friend he can be.
