Archie Manning (born May 19, 1949, in Drew, Mississippi) is a legendary former NFL quarterback and a beloved patriarch of football’s most iconic dynasty. A standout player at Ole Miss, he earned College Football Hall of Fame honors and multiple MVP awards before becoming the 2nd overall pick in the 1971 NFL draft. Despite playing for struggling teams for much of his career, his talent and character shone through—becoming a two-time Pro Bowler and NFC MVP in 1978.
Following a 14-year NFL career—primarily with the New Orleans Saints, and later stints with the Houston Oilers and Minnesota Vikings—Manning transitioned into impactful roles off the field.
