TIM GARD:  Thriving Even In Times Of Stress

International Keynote and Workshop presenter TIM GARD’s customized programs concentrate on how to thrive even when you have little control over external circumstances.  With more than 20 years’ experience doing just that, Tim offers a variety of programs specifically designed to help his audiences thrive despite their particular stresses.

During the last decade, Tim Gard has delivered his entertaining, informative presentations all over the world, speaking to government groups, professional associations, and corporations of every kind. Through his work he expands the understanding of humor skills as stress reduction tools. His development of easy-to-implement techniques has inspired action from publishers, television, and radio talk shows around the world. His methods and techniques are an effective way to deal with, diffuse, and even avoid intensely stressful encounters that can—and often do—occur every day.

Tim began his career working with the Montana Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services, where he discovered that his ability (and unstoppable tendency!) to sprinkle non-malicious mischief over office politics in a tense environment was an appreciated antidote to daily pressures. When asked by superiors to develop a training program to assist eligibility workers in managing stress, burnout and the ever-looming threat of compassion fatigue, he knew that sharing his own good humor was the most powerful and productive way to contribute.

Tim’s down-to-earth style and easy manner gains him immediate rapport as he imparts his stress-reducing, success-generating perspective in a highly humorous format. Whether he is helping a group develop a Comic Vision®, or building strong teams through humor, participants enjoy his fun, informative and fast-paced session that keeps them on the edge of their seats!

Humor is a business still that anyone can learn and master just like leadership or management skills.  The use of humor isn’t about telling jokes, it’s about learning how and why humor is the fastest, easiest, funnest way to connect with someone –   someone you want to sell to,  someone you want to lead, or even someone you just met.  It’s also a highly effective way to deal with and even avoid stress.  It begins with the realization that we all smile and laugh in the same language, laughter unites us.

•  Learn to use humor as a business skill to connect with coworkers, customers and vendors.

•  Discover how to use Tim’s 3 step method to be able to act and not react to stress

•  Find out how to change your perception of events to create a reality more within your control

PROGRAM

Focus on the funny:  Becoming resilient!

Covid 19 has changed the world and left devastated employees in it’s wake. In many cases we replaced boring in person meetings with never ending zoom calls.  Today, most need help in letting go of past anger and stress while they work to become more resilient when faced with future challenges.  Many people worldwide are unhappy, stressed out and depressed.  It’s a fact.  People want to be happy.  Happy employees work better, have fewer sick days and more easily connect with customers, vendors and coworkers.  Depression has an equally opposite effect.  However, the opposite of depression isn’t happiness, the opposite of depression is resilience.   If we have learned anything after covid 29 it’s the importance of having resilient, happy people on our team when we face challenges.

Tim’s rejuvenating and immediately applicable message teaches audiences how to increase morale while enhancing productivity and everyday enthusiasm in three short, and easy to adopt, steps. His unique yet practical ideas help people diffuse routine or extreme stress by insulating themselves against negativity.  He shows audiences how to “refresh and renew” themselves simply by using and sharing his techniques.  His terrifically funny, unique stories (and of course, extraordinary visual props) make this keynote address a hilarious way to start or close your meeting.

His development of easy-to- implement techniques has inspired action from publishers, television, and radio talk shows around the world. His methods and techniques are an effective way to deal with, diffuse, and even avoid intensely stressful encounters that can—and often do—occur every day.

After majoring in communications at Flathead Valley Community College and Montana State University in Bozeman, Tim began his career working with the Montana Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services. During this experience, he discovered that his ability (and unstoppable tendency!) to sprinkle non-malicious mischief over office politics in a tense environment was an appreciated antidote to daily pressures. When asked by superiors to develop a training program to assist eligibility workers in managing stress, burnout and the ever-looming threat of compassion fatigue, he knew that sharing his own good humor was the most powerful and productive way to contribute.

After locating to Denver, Colorado in 1994 to join the staff of USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service, the enormous calling from his peers and superiors for consulting and training inspired Tim to resign from the federal government, and devote a full- time effort to his seminars and workshops.

Now, more than a decade later, Tim’s down-to-earth style and easy manner gains him immediate rapport as he imparts his stress-reducing, success-generating perspective in a highly humorous format. Whether he is helping a group develop a Comic Vision®, or building strong teams through humor, participants enjoy his fun, informative and fast-paced session that keeps them on the edge of their seats! A navy veteran who served tours in San Francisco and aboard the U.S. aircraft carrier Midway in Japan, Tim values the sacrifices, contributions and pressures endured by people who want to make the world a better place for us all, one laugh at a time.
