Jim Craig parlayed his success as goalie for the gold medal-winning 1980 US Olympic “Miracle on Ice” hockey team into an award winning career in sales and marketing. Among Craig’s many business accomplishments, he managed, directed and built a division of Valassis Inserts (later Valassis Communications) from a unit that had been producing $300,000 a year in sales to one that achieved $50 million in sales annually. Millions of Americans remember Mike Eruzione as the captain of the US Hockey Team that beat the odds to win the Gold Medal at the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, NY. It was his decisive winning goal that beat the Soviet team and stunned the world. That victory against the Soviets advanced the US Hockey Team to the Gold Medal Game where they beat Finland. Dubbed the “Miracle on Ice,” the team’s inspiring story was adapted by Walt Disney studios into a feature length film, titled “Miracle,” which was released in February 2004. The film starred Kurt Russell as legendary Olympic head coach Herb Brooks, and Patrick O’Brien Demsey as Mike Eruzione. After the victory in Lake Placid, Eruzione spent several years in New York and New Jersey as a sports commentator for Madison Square Garden, and in 1984 he joined ABC as a broadcaster for the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, and the1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. In 1992 and 1994 he did broadcasting for CBS during Olympic Games. For the past several years Eruzione has traveled the country representing major corporations and as a motivational speaker.
